Senior probation officer Pamela R. Haynes retired. She has experience working with domestic violence survivors and facilitating domestic abuse programmes. For her first book, Loving The Brothers, Pam was named Author of the Year and Author of Colour in 2018. She was also shortlisted for the 2020 BLAC Best Writer Award. Recipient of The Powerhouse Global Women's Award in 2022 for her efforts in writing books that promote awareness of domestic violence, as well as a finalist for the 2022 Baton Award in the Paulette Wilson Campaigner category. In March 2023, Pamela received a Fellow designation from the Royal Society of Arts.

TEDxBazeUniversity — held on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Baze University, Abuja — was a powerful,  event themed “Rise: Tashi. Bilie. Dide.” (Rise in Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba). The event was produced by the inaugural First Class Speakers Academy, marking a historic moment as  they  took full ownership of curating and executing the TEDx experience.

 

Through a lineup of compelling speakers, immersive storytelling, and energetic audience engagement, the event showcased a new generation of thought leaders rising to shape the future.

Held at the University of East London’s Stratford Square campus as part of the lively Newham Word Festival, the session featured acclaimed local author Pamela R Haynes (DipSW, DipHE, BA, FRSA). She read excerpts from her two novels, hosted a Q&A, and unveiled the cover of her upcoming third book.
